#ConfidentMomsandDaughters book review


     I have been greatly encouraged by being a part of the launch team for #ConfidentMomsandDaughters by Maria Furlough. I love that she was a straight talker, truthfully conveying the challenges that our daughters face growing up in today's culture. I also appreciated Maria's encouragement that we need to fight for our daughters. The Holy Spirit is with us, and He is with our daughters. As the below quote states He is our biggest hope in being a good example for our daughters, and for having empathy for her situation, whatever situation that may be.

          Speaking of setting an example, how can I expect to teach my daughter that she is God's workmanship, if I do not remember that the same is also true for me. I want my daughters to know that God loves them so much, and that creating each of them pleased him greatly. Each of us is fearfully and wonderfully made. I want to live out this verse and show my daughters by example of how to be confident in God's love for them.

          I love seeing what sparks joy in my daughters (and my son too.) I am thankful for Maria's encouragement to be a student of my children. I want to learn what brings them joy and provide opportunities for them to participate in these activities.  Maria describes it as "being the joy police" finding opportunities for our daughters to laugh and have fun doing what the love to do.         

          In closing, I would recommend #ConfidentMomsandDaughters to any girl mom. You can find #ConfidentMomsandDaughters on Amazon here or at your favorite bookseller.

      Thank you Karrilee for stopping by. My oldest daughter teases me about the number of books I read about motherhood. I tell her that being her and her siblings mother is one of the most important roles that God has given me. I love reading books that give me biblical encouragement in this role. Day 11 Try New Things Once

              I like predictably. I like routines. I do not have much of an adventurous spirit. I laugh that my girls are much more open to trying new things than I am. Their motto is to try things once. I have ridden roller coasters at theme parks because my children have wanted to go on them. I have researched and then participated in activities that my kids have wanted to try. My eldest daughter and I have even discovered we both enjoy sushi because she had always wanted to try it. I am thankful that my children are adventurous and they encourage me to be a more adventurous person

Lewis. I was reading Mere Christianity about a year ago, and these words leaped off the page and made an imprint on my mind and heart.  As some of you may know, I am a single mom. My children's father has parenting time during school vacations. On these vacations he takes them to theme parks, lets them stay up as late as they want and basically is a very fun Dad. I sometimes wish that I could be the fun "theme park parent." I am the parent that needs to enforce bed times, helps them with homework and reminds them to be kind to each other.
